Eden means “a delightful place,” which is what you can expect to see in New South Wales’ most southerly town. Eden is known as one of Australia’s best whale watching locations. Humpback and southern right whales can be spotted in Eden’s Twofold Bay from September to November, as they migrate back to those chilly Antarctic waters. Natural attractions are the aim of the game in delightful Eden as well. Cruise to Eden to visit Ben Boyd National Park and walk along its rugged cliffs to Boyd Tower and Red Point Lookout.

As the capital of Tasmania, Hobart’s Colónial history is on display in the harbor town’s architecture. Visit Battery Point, Hobart’s main historical district — here, you’ll find narrow lanes and Colónial seafarers’ cottages dating back to the 1800s. Then, head to the waterfront to check out Salamanca Place, the city’s cultural hot spot: Peruse through the boutiques, cafes and restaurants that now occupy the neighborhood’s Georgian sandstone warehouses. Cruise to Hobart, Tasmania and explore Mount Wellington, the 1,271 meter-high basalt monolith that backdrops the city. It’s a 30-minute drive to the summit, and once you’re there, you can take in the panoramic views or stretch your legs with some bushwalking.

Port Arthur, first established in 1830, is a historic village in the Tasman Peninsula in southern Tasmania. The site was a penal colony for almost 50 years and now serves as a great jumping-off point for an adventure beyond the storied village, where open landscapes with dramatic seaside rock formations and cliffs await. You can discover Port Arthur with walking tours, a harbour cruise or by exploring the site by yourself. The village, now an open-air museum, holds the ruins of the penal settlement, including a penitentiary and a church.
